A Full Groom is the works. Your dog gets bathed, conditioned, dried, brushed out and nail-ground, and then Courtney cuts the coat: a breed-specific trim, a shorter seasonal cut, or a full shave down if that's what the coat needs.
The whole thing happens in the van in your driveway. One dog at a time, start to finish, with the same groomer the entire visit. There's no kennel, no waiting on other dogs to finish, and no second trip across town to pick anyone up.

Who a Full Groom is for
If your dog's coat keeps growing, a Full Groom is the appointment you want. That covers poodles, doodles, shih tzus, schnauzers, Yorkies, cockers, bichons, and most terriers. Coats like these don't shed the way a lab's does. They keep going until someone cuts them, and if they're left too long they mat.
It's also the right call for a double-coated dog that needs more than a brush-out, or any dog whose feet, face and sanitary areas have gotten long and are starting to cause problems.
Haircut options
Tell Courtney what you're after and she'll work with the coat you've got. Common requests:
- Breed-specific cuts. The traditional trim for your dog's breed.
- Seasonal cuts. Shorter for a Houston summer, a little more length when it cools off.
- Puppy cut. One even length all over. Easy to maintain, and the most-requested cut on doodles.
- Shave down. The safe answer when a coat is too matted to brush out.
- Tidy-up. Face, feet and sanitary only, keeping the body length.
About matting
Matting is the one thing that changes a grooming appointment. When a coat is packed tight against the skin, it can't be brushed out without hurting the dog. The humane answer is to clip underneath the mats and start the coat over.
There's a $10–$20 de-matting fee depending on how bad it is, and Courtney will tell you what she's looking at and what it will cost before she starts. Nothing gets added to your bill as a surprise.
If you want to avoid the fee next time: brush all the way down to the skin, not just over the top of the coat, and pay attention to behind the ears, under the collar, the armpits and the back legs. That's where mats start.
How long it takes
About 90 minutes for a small dog, up to about two hours for a large one. Matted or heavily coated dogs take longer. You don't need to be outside for any of it. Courtney will let you know when she's done.
Questions about this
Do you need to use my water or electricity?
No. The van carries its own water and runs on its own power, so nothing is plugged into your house and no hose is needed. All you have to provide is a place to park. Your driveway or the curb out front is fine.
How long does an appointment take?
Most appointments run between one and two hours. A Bath & Brush sits at the shorter end and a Full Groom at the longer end, and bigger dogs take more time than small ones. Matted coats, heavy double coats and puppies on their first visit can run past that, and Courtney will tell you if she expects yours to.
What happens if my dog is matted?
There's a de-matting fee of $10 to $20 depending on how severe it is, and Courtney will tell you what she's looking at and what it will cost before she starts, so nothing gets added to your bill as a surprise. If a coat is matted tight against the skin it can't be brushed out without hurting the dog, so the humane answer in that case is to clip underneath the mats and let the coat start over.
Do I need to be home the whole time?
You need to be there to hand your dog over and to take them back at the end, but you don't need to stand outside in between. Most people go back inside and get on with their day. If you'd rather stay and watch, that's fine too. If your dog settles better knowing you're nearby, say so when you book.
